The Remington RP9 9mm Pistol Review
The Remington RP9 9mm +P, striker fired pistol is one of Remington's street corner guns ..... kinda. After a significant historical period of quality control questions that are ramped up away internet hysteria, the company is due some serious corrections.
Poor Reviews Of The Remington RP9 9mm Pistol
They have to suffe some real proof they can gather up the slack on the allow down on a long tradition of some of the country's favorite firearms. Information technology's important for Remington to turn the public discussion from one of questioning anything new they produce.
Back to ace of anticipation and hullabaloo about their newest offerings.
The Remington RP9 .9mm pistol has been harshly questioned and criticized always since it hit the market; much past people who have ne'er touched one.
Simply I found that some trusted sources who had tried the grease-gun were actually giving it solid, rave reviews. Just as many or more trusted sources were sidesplitting it in their evaluations, showing the guns failing over and over.
So, with all that going on, I figured this would be a good gainsay for a pistol follow-up.
When I saw one available in my employer's gun display case, at a price that made information technology not even meriting of concern, I full exterior the paperwork and took it home.
Remington RP9 Side arm Description
| The Remington RP9 hitter pink-slipped pistol is a big, tariff size pistol. Merely big doesn't mean unduly heavy. The polymer frame lightens what would represent a chunk if it were metal alloy. | |
As I always do, I took the gun apart along getting it home. What you find is absolute beef as Army for the Liberation of Rwanda as the twist of the skid.
The bottom side of the slide where it meets the underframe is comprehensive, troubling, and solid Eastern Samoa granite. I held information technology up next to the slide of my S&W M2.0 and was shocked at the dispute in the width of the metal.
Without a doubt, the Remington RP9 is intended for heavy duty carry out.
It was ready to go game in the box. Clean, lightly lubed. Cypher else necessary before shot.
I wanted to put this gun through its paces, so I took several kinds of ammo, and plenty of IT. Headed to the range with a usual combining of woodwind instrument, swash, paper, silhouette, and steel.
Shooting The Remington RP9 9mm Pistol
The ways I would shoot it would be to test for accuracy, tidy race, and multiple target acquisition. Altogether that I wanted to shoot enough, and divers enough ammo to construe IT machanically perform.
I wanted to look if my new gun would stand up to my GLOCK, S&W M2.0, Canik, complete guns worthy of admiration in their construction and perfomance.
I set up my targets and got started.
First the silhouette from about 35 feet. Slow firing for accuracy at the head of the silhouette. Right out of the package, the wind adaptable, white scatter sights were on direct. Completely rounds I had discriminatory went in the manoeuvre. Some landed in the same hole.
Having the gun in my hand shooting IT for the first time, I shot slightly left field happening the first few shots, but straightened them out after quickly getting a feel for the gun.
Close to go for accuracy. Afterward some more practice with other targets I was ready for some fast, straight, blade silhouette shooting. The Remington RP9 9mm was a delight to fritter.
It can be mentioned at this point, that Remington got the message from other gun manufacturers. The spark off happening the gun, piece having a different feel from my opposite guns, after some takeup, still had a crispen trigger force that allowed fast eye mass shot on the steel silhouette.
That led to some fast, mulitiple poin acquisition. That meant shot three steel targets lined capable give up shooting back and forth between them, simulating dealing with three approaching attackers.
Information technology was a breeze with the short trigger pull and my chop-chop building confidence in the big pistol. Moving as fast arsenic I could back and forth between the targets, information technology was decipherable iii attackers could have been dealt with handily with the RP9.
Remington RP9 9mm Pistol Performance
Project the video below to interpret the type shooting performed at blade targets.
After complete 200 rounds including Winchester ball ammo, forged steel case fmj rounds, and self demurrer hollow points information technology was clear the gun was manufactured to perform.
The gun comes with 3 back straps to adjust the fascinate. If you're secondhand to using a GLOCK or M&P you'll immediately notice the departure in arrive at from the grip to where your finger naturally waterfall along the trigger.
It's different and at first it felt odd. Just after a little of adjustment and practice everything fell into shoes nicely. I was able to confidently pull off anything I'm able to do with my most practiced pistols.
Remington RP9 Pistol Features
The controls on the RP9 are in the familiar places. The bring down lever is the big unitary in the forward position on the frame. Downside to the uninjured take down process is you have to pull the spark to bugger off the slide off. Non a deal ledgeman, but not desirable in some gun.
The stippling on the gun is smooth, but operative for a reasonably solid grip. The trigger guard is slightly undercut, and helps achieve maximum astuteness of the gun in the web of your hand for sway concrete shooting.
| The sights are typical white dot, that on this gun were set to fancy truth out of the boxful. The sights are adjustable for windage. Information technology's likely they'll be ready to hug dru when you vex the gun, but it's nice to know they can be adjusted if needed. For this character mint, the dots are adequately sized and clear to the eyes. I haven't looked into accessories for the RP9 just even so, but with the dovetail inserts, there will likely be mickle of aftermarket options for sights. | |
Go along in mind I don't feature guns sent to Maine by manufacturers to see if I will give a promote to their firearms ratings. I buy up my guns, shoot up and differently tryout them.
I report on how they study for whatever amount of time I have got proved them in, whether an initial range report, or months of ambit turn and carry.
I know how to spud, what should happen when I put a gun finished its paces, and how it should perform. I report on those primarily. Everything else is opinion and preference.
That's the way to border on any gun review. As an anecdote of the reviewer.
Where The RP9 Fits With Today's Duty Pistols
This gun is an offering by Remington, that appears to be a working, duty size competitor with GLOCK, S&W, Ruger, Walther, and others. They have set everything in situ to spend a penny the gun work and operate for a wide range of users.
And they have put under it along the commercialize at a price point that knocks others out of the water for similar operation. Take that for what it's worth
Remington RP9 Stats
The significant stats for the Remington RP9 9mm pistol are:
- Bore: 9mm (+P)
- Mag Capacity: 18
- Barrel Length: 4.5"
- Trigger Pull: Instead of manufacturer stats - From Wheeler Pull Scale - right at 6lbs.
- Trigger pull is short, snappy, with short audible reset.
- Grips: Polymer
- Avg Weight (unloaded): 26.4 oz.
- Slide by Finish: PVD Coating
The only external safety on the gun is the one shapely in to the trigger.
The slide stop is just that, not a reliable device to release the slide with when reloading. Not that it won't work, merely it's almost flush to the side of the gun and like many other models now, the gun for hire is well-meaning to be slingshot readied rather than with the lantern slide stop.
The stay is ambidextrous as is the magazine release button that can be exchanged to the ethical side of the gun for nigh handers
Undersurface Furrow happening the Remington RP9: Remington well-stacked a winner in this pistol. Not reasonable because I tested it and say so. Because multiple trusted sources take over commit information technology to work at once, and put up their input on the solid performance of the gun.
This gun and any other coming on the securities industry now, should be evaluated from reviews that written report on how information technology works, non just the preferences and whims of the reviewers.
The Remington RP9 9mm +p: A shooting iron that will likely take its space among the actual popular herd of striker fired 9mms that definably work for what they were created for.
A gun that is presented to the public at a price point that makes information technology leap out, and hard to dissent, even when comparing it to the historically known best of the outflank.
Yea, I like it.
I hope Remington is stepping congest to the plate to do what they've done for generations. Create guns that people promis in production, want in stores, and use in real life.
UPDATE: Quite a hardly a people let unambiguous concern all but the on-going reliability of the RP9; only after shooting it a bit Sir Thomas More, it appeared to be rock solid. Thus, I decided to perk some fringe ammo and do the video downstairs.
In the vid I put 100 rounds of Winchester Forged Steel Causa ammunition, and 100 rounds of Independence aluminum case ammo through it as fast as I could load the mag and get information technology shot.
Worth seeing for added confidence that the particular gun I own is tried and true.
Remington RP9 Tryout Round Ii from Faith Gun Possessor on Vimeo.
UPDATE 2022: The Remington RP9 is quiet going strong. With approximately 1200 rounds of whol types of ammunition through it, with a half dozen people as well me shooting it now, the gun refuses to fail.
